APMT MVII is in line with integrated planning for Inland Container Shipping

news-details

APM Terminals Maasvlakte II (APMT MVII) is the newest participant in the integrated planning of inland container shipping in the port of Rotterdam. By participating in Nextlogic, APMT MVII can serve visiting inland shipping even better and make optimal use of its own terminal capacity.

With the connection of APMT MVII, all five deepsea container terminals on the Maasvlakte are participating in Nextlogic. As a result, more than 75% of the terminal volume and 60% of the volume of the barge operators are now integrally planned. The higher this volume, the more efficiently everyone can work. The only thing a terminal operator needs to provide in advance is the available quay capacity and the expected crane speed. Barge operators report their rotation, visit and cargo information to Nextlogic. Nextlogic then matches this with each other. Innovative software is used to create the most transparent planning for everyone. It dynamically adapts to the current situation.

The efficiency of the system offers added value for all parties in the inland shipping chain. Both regular calls and fixed windows are optimally planned. Terminals and barge operators can both utilize their capacity as fully as possible, which leads to faster turnaround times in the port of Rotterdam.

Carefully prepared

The connection of APMT MVII to Nextlogic has been carefully prepared by both parties. After extensive testing, the button was turned. For all participating barge operators, the inland vessels that visit APMT MVII are now fully planned. Nextlogic expects that with the connection of the following barge operators, more than 90% of the inland shipping volume at the deep-sea terminals will run through the integrated planning in the course of 2023.

Sijbrand Pot, Director of Nextlogic : “The participation of APMT MVII in Nextlogic is a major step forward in the integrated planning of inland container shipping in the port of Rotterdam. Together with the market, we continue to scale up. Through further optimization and improvements in the chain, we expect that the first barge workers and empty depots will also join in the foreseeable future.”

Joost Mes, COO APM Terminals Maasvlakte II : “The goal of Nextlogic is to realize a more transparent, more efficient port together with all participants, from which everyone benefits. This fits perfectly with the objective of APM Terminals Maasvlakte II to guarantee our customers a fast, reliable and safe handling of containers. We are therefore pleased that we are now connected to Nextlogic.”
